After this she escaped and started sliding herself... So it's sometime after season three... I don't think she's seen the others in a long time... Brief History: Wade Kathleen Welles was born on May 15, 1972. The second child of Don Welles and his wife, growing up Wade shared a bedroom with her older sister Kelly in their home in San Francisco. Her childhood was rather uneventful, as were her high school years. Upon graduation Wade enrolled at North Shore Junior College where she studied literature and poetry. During this time she was employed at the Doppler Computer Store along side her friend Quinn Mallory. Despite the fact that she never told him while they were working at Doppler, Wade had a crush on Quinn; young Mallory was - of course - completely oblivious. Things were rather normal for Wade until the day of September 27, 1994 when Quinn came in to work, told off their boss Mr. Hurley and kissed her. Needless to say his behavior towards their supervisior/boss got him fired... Shortly thereafter Quinn again entered Doppler seeming to have no knowledge of what he'd done, going so far as to be utterly confused by why he would kiss her. It was only later that day that these events - and their meaning - were explained. After being invited to Quinn's home - along with Quinn's professor Maximillian Arturo. It was then that they were introduced to Sliding. Eager to try it out - now that she had an idea of what it was - the two students and a seemingly reluctant Professor Arturo went sliding, accidently bringing a singer named Rembrandt Brown along with them. This was the start of a journey that would span hundreds of parallel worlds as they tried to find their way home again. At times they would find a world that was close, that the thought was Earth Prime, but in the end their hopes were dashed... Through their travels, Wade and Quinn became very close - and in truth Quinn became less oblivious to what there was between them. The four travelers becoming a family of sorts, trying to stay together as the years went by and they went through different worlds... On one of their slides, the Sliders were brought to a world that was dying - unlike one of their earlier slides - had the ability to Slide but lacked a piece of the puzzle. With the help of Quinn and Arturo the military of that Earth was able to send a small amount of people to a new world where they could start over... unfortunately with this would come tragedy. The head of the military - Colonel Angus Rickman - shot Professor Arturo (who took a bullet meant for Quinn), killing the professor... The loss of the man who had become - in her view - a father in their small family hit Wade hard. It didn't help that the woman they had been working with to evacuate people from Rickman's world - Captain Maggie Beckett was now traveling with them - in Arturo's place - in hopes of finding Rickman herself (as he had also killed her husband). It was a combination of the loss of Arturo and the the change of dynamic that seemed to throw her. It was clear to Wade that things had changed. Not only did she see that Quinn was interested in Maggie - something she could have accepted despite her own feelings - Maggie seemed to view her emotions as weakness; going so far as to ridicule Wade's grief over Arturo's death as evidence that she was weak. Perhaps it was Maggie's military upbringing, or perhaps it was something else, but much of the time the two women did not get along. Despite this things did get better after Wade saved Maggie from a zombie, one might even say they became friendly after they killed a T-Rex together on another world. Despite this, what appeared evident to Wade was that Quinn seemed caught up with Maggie. Despite the fact that Rembrandt was always there for her - as he had been since the beginning - as he told her once he was "in love with her soul" - what became clear after one particular Slide (where Wade became mixed up with and part of a musical group made up of Vampires) was that she was lonely... After rescuing her, Quinn reminded Wade that she still had both him and Remy - something she said she felt she needed to be reminded more often by some people... Having finally tracked Rickman down, another slide had taken them to a world that could only be described "Doctor Moreau World." After dealing with issues on this slide, Rembrandt, Quinn and Wade prepared to slide back to Earth Prime using Rickman's timer - which had the coordinates stored in it - (leaving Maggie their timer, to continue Sliding on her own) when Rickman attacked them. Opening the vortex to Earth Prime Quinn - against Wade's wishes - pushed both her and Rembrandt into it, staying behind himself to help Maggie fight. Throughout their slides, not only had the Sliders met allies but also enemies. The worst among these were the Kromaggs - an enemy they were introduced to before Arturo's death and before Sliding onto Maggie's Earth. Having finally made it to Earth Prime, Wade and Rembrandt found themselves at home (it would be three months before Quinn and Maggie slid to Earth Prime), but their time of semi-normal waiting wouldn't last long. Shortly after their arrival on Earth Prime the Kromaggs took over. Having dealt with the Kromaggs before and knowing some of their tactics, despite the fact that Wade and Rembrandt shared a prison cell the two couldn't talk very much. The reason for this stemmed from the fact that not only were the Kromaggs listening but they might play mind games (where the person they are speaking to might actually be a Kromagg imposter). When Rembrandt refused to give the Kromaggs the information that they wanted, they threatened to send Wade away to a breeder camp. When Rembrandt still refused to cooperate the Kromaggs made good on their threats... and all Rembrandt was left with her necklace - a chain with square beads that spelled her name. The days and nights at the Breeder Camp were worse than hell on earth. In the facility - its sole purpose to carry out breeding experiments of humans and Kromaggs - it can only be imagined the conditions they lived in... Somewhere along the way Wade met a woman named Christina - who later would escape and meet up with Quinn, Remy and the others. Despite months and months in the facility, Wade had done her best not to fall into hopelessness or fear. She eventually planned and escaped - getting her hands on a Kromagg timing device and - despite her physical state - slid off world. For the next several months... was it months? Without a watch of any kind and her body strained from keeping one step ahead of the Kromaggs tracking her wormhole she wasn't entirely certain how long it had been. Even with the issue of time being relatively unknown, since her escape she had been attempting to search for Quinn, Rembrandt and yes, even Maggie. Eventually she finally landed - on one slide - on the timer, causing something to happen that she didn't entirely understand... for some reason on the next slide the Kromaggs did not follow. Despite this (and the fact that where she was was not a world with liveable conditions), when the timer reached zero she jumped into one more vortex. Upon landing her timer stopped working... Wherever she is now - she is here for keeps... Hoping that she'll find her friends again... Despite it all she hasn't stopped looking. Other Information: Since arriving, Wade has been published. Her first book A Travelers' Tale has done well. She writes under the name W.K. Welles. Her publishers are pushing for another in the series. She has taken to writing in bars because she likes the atmosphere - it reminds her of the Lamplighter Pub at the Dominion Hotel in San Francisco. Work on her second book has already begin - Wade uses the journals she was somehow able to keep despite the slides and her life on the run - as a basis for the stories. While she has located her own double, Quinn's (a student at MIT) and Professor Arturo's, she has been unable to find Rembrandt's. Because of this she has changed the names of her friends in the books. With Wade's character acting as narrator, she writes their slides as if they were fiction. Professor Maximillion Arturo is Professor Lawrence Arturo, Quinn has become Quinn Mayer, and Rembrandt kept his own name as she has found no evidence that he even exists on this world.
